Today we had the gardening olympics featuring the 2X100m watering can relay followed by the zucchini put. Athletes competing were Devorah, Heather, Julie, John, Joseph and Patty led by Coach Jim.
Julie should have an advantage with her long legs, and Heather is dressed for the occasion in her bright red USA jacket. Devorah just came off an injury. Earlier this season she missed some weeks at the garden after falling in her garden on her shoulder and having surgery. She is just back so we’ll see how her shoulder affects her performance. John and Joseph are both strong boys and should do well in the zucchini put. Patty has short legs so we’ll see if she can overcome that deficit.
Seriously, gardening is great exercise and helps keep you in shape and burns calories.
After the Olympics today Rob shared some seeds from his garden. A very different type of Peony. The peonies have a Russian name and translated is “Molly the Witch” The seed probably came from Japan or some other exotic place. Rob has lots of interesting plants in his garden and some of them have very interesting backgrounds. So see, we did do a little gardening stuff today.
Our prize today for competing in the Olympics was an Italian zucchini and a cucumber from the garden to take home and enjoy.
So far, so much fun. Silly fun today!!
