Week 18 – Plant some edible flowers and Happy 4th of July

Today I played hooky as only two of the apprentices went to the station to show some edible plants that are great for summer and eating!!

I thought they were going to plant a red, white and blue pot for the 4th but that was done last Sunday so I will post both videos so you can see what was in the July 4th pot.

Joe and Sandy explained what is in the edible flower pot.  I am not an expert on what plants are edible so I’ll just let you watch this week’s segment.  I have tried a few petals like nasturtium and they’re pretty tasty.  I have had lavender fudge and it’s surprisingly good with just a hint of lavender.

Edible flowers make a salad festive and unusual and they make a very pretty garnish.

Happy Gardening and Happy 4th of July!!

To see both videos follow the link and the first two articles are the edible plants and 4th of July flowers:  http://search.9news.com/default.aspx?ct=r&q=proctor’s garden
